The ideal candidate will be responsible for the collection and organization of documents and information from various cases at the firm. This candidate should feel comfortable relaying messages between various groups and keeping all documents important to the cases they are working on organized.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents such as pleadings, motions, affidavits, and briefs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal procedures and deadlines.
- Conduct legal research using various sources including online databases, case law, statutes, and regulations to support attorneys in case preparation and strategy.
- Organize and maintain legal files, including case documents, correspondence, and research materials, ensuring efficient retrieval and confidentiality.
- Coordinate communication between clients, attorneys, courts, and other parties involved in legal proceedings, facilitating smooth workflow and timely responses.
- Assist with case management tasks such as scheduling meetings, depositions, and court appearances, and preparing attorneys for hearings and trials.
- Draft correspondence, contracts, and other legal documents under attorney supervision, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal standards.
- Stay updated on changes in laws, regulations, and court procedures relevant to assigned practice areas, and assist in updating attorneys and staff accordingly.
Qualifications
- Experience as a legal secretary or assistant or paralegal
- Bachelor's degree or Paralegal certificate
